10/1/08: Walk in the Woods

We went for a walk in the woods today. My friend, Sara, found this great park with paved paths and a long boardwalk. So, we took the kids and enjoyed this wonderful fall weather! It is my favorite time of year. The crisp air, the leaves turning brillant colors, the crunch and rustle as you walk along ... all that combined with the laughter of my boys and companionship of my friend. Oh, life is so good!
We were able to collect some beautiful leaves. While I was a little particular, Braden was just excited to pick up as many as he could carry. He was so proud of his leaves, until he saw another bunch and then dump went the ones he was holding so he could grab more!
These fall colors are so spectacular in Wisconsin. The picture doesn't quite do them justice, but at least gives you a glimpse into the painting God is doing here.
While we were at the park, Braden had his first "outdoor pee" experience. We are working on potty-training (STILL!). His buddy, Cooper, is trained and needed to go -- so he did his stuff and watered the grass. My guy decided this was way cool, so it was our turn. Good thing that the park was deserted because this Mommy doesn't quite understand how to pee standing up!!! We are definately going to need some lessons from Daddy this weekend. But, we made it through ... only a few dribbles ... and a VERY proud little boy. But, he did think that it was "Brr...cold!", so I'm not sure he'll be quite as excited for next time. :)
(SORRY, NO PICTURES OF THIS. I THINK BRADEN WILL BE GLAD OF THAT SOMEDAY!)

All 3 boys had a fun time playing on our private playground while we were there too. So many options, and so little time. Braden went on the slides, swings, merry-go-round, dug in the sand, and climbed all over. Whew ... Mommy is tired! Good thing that Dylon is still content to hang out in the swing. Next summer though ... Yikes! How tired am I going to be then? But, it is oh so worth it!!!
Dylon took advantage of the walk to doze off and have his morning nap. But only after he "ahhh'd" as we bumped along the boardwalk. When we got home, he was playing with toys while Mommy and Braden were again occupied in the bathroom (oh the joys of pottytraining!). I heard a whistling noise from the living room and looked out to discover Dylon playing the recorder. He was so happy with himself and excited to show off this new skill. What a big boy!
